My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Great read, it took me awhile to get into this book, but I am glad I stuck with it.
Lots of twists and turns, some you see coming and others not so much.
The story is based around a girl who is looking after her alcoholic prostitute mother in a small town, where many judge the daughter to be the same as her mother. The story behind Suzannah becoming a alcoholic and a prostitute is one that you hear often, with an abusive, bully for a father, but small town mentality of not rocking the boat leads to cover ups.
Sarah's friend Tommy is a lost soul who has lost his mother and lives alone most of the time as his father goes away to work. He would do anything to protect Sarah.
Police officer Henson takes Tommy under his wing as he helps try to solve Sarah's disappearance. No one really seems interested in helping to find the prostitutes daughter, they are more focused on the Grevilla Festival and not drawing attention to the town. This changes a little when they realised that another teenager has gone missing. This time the son of the town bully, who has the tendancy to take after his father. The media invade the town.
Worth the read, I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good twist in a storyline and the struggles some take to survive.
